Boys plz help: does he like me, or is he doing that guy thing?

Okay, well there's this guy I like and I'm not sure if he likes me or if he's doing one of those guy things where he wants to be friends but flirts a lot. Anyway, he's in 3 of my classes and has the same lunch period as me, so we hang out a lot. We usually sit next to or across from each other at lunch and we have a lot of mutual friends. Some of his friends I don't know too well keep on joking about us liking each other, and when they do he'll smile and look away, and I'll blush and look away too. We sit across from each other in math, and we'll like, kick each other (not that hard) and try to step on each others feet. One teacher caught and said really loudly, "Jake and Anna, stop playing footsie!!!" and he hecka blushed (I probably did 2). He tries to cheer me up when I'm hurt, and i think he's tried to show off a few times. Two of our friends, Brent and Greg, used to like me (they told me) but I told them that I didn't want to date either of them, and I'm another one of his friends' ex. I'm afraid that they probably make fun of me or whatever when he's around. I'm afraid of looking like an idiot if he says he doesn't like me, and if my friend asks him he'll know that I put him/her up to it. So, what do you think I should do? Thanks for all your help :)
